For this weight loss program you need a pocket sized calorie counter. This little book by Allan Borushek is geared to the American market and lists the many items in your supermarket and in common takeaway foods. This is the best calorie counting book I have come across. It is easy to use and has additional healthy diet tips and information.

Allan Borushek is a dietition and biochemist with over 25 years experience in dietetics. He produces new editions of his book for America and Australia every year.

There is no current British edition so people in Britain should look for the equivalent kind of book tailored for the British market.

The Australian edition is generally available in good book stores.

 

Tanita BF679 Duo Scales Plus Body Fat Monitor

You need a set of reliable digital scales, preferably with the ability to assess body fat percentage. These Tanita scales can be programed for two people's height, age and sex. They allow fast simple operation for tracking weight and body fat percentage.

The body fat percentage is calculated by sending a safe low-level electrical signal up through your feet. This then calculates body fat for the person with the selected stored height, weight and sex information. These scales also have provision for a visitor for weight only calculation.

An informative little book with a calorie conscious approach to weight loss from a low Gi diet perspective.

This book has a few recipes but you would mainly use this book to understand how to apply a low calorie and low glycemic index approach to menu planning.

Items highlighted in the green section idicate items with lower calorie and low glycemic index giving an easy guide for low GI food choices to support weight loss.

 

 

The New Glucose Revolution: Life Plan by Jennie Brand-Miller and Kaye Foster-Powell

This is a fantastic recipe book with simple, tasty and easy-to-make recipes all with the calories per serve listed.

Forty-seven recipes focusing on ingredients with a low gylcemic index which break down slower during digestion causing more gradual glucose release, reducing fluctuations in blood sugar and resulting in more prolonged sense of "fullness".

Definitely worth adding to your library to make dieting more enjoyable and healthy.

 

Fat Controller by Murdoch Books

This is the best recipe book I have come across for a wide choice of low calorie recipes. Each recipe has the calories per serve and nutritional information listed. The whole book is geared to weight reduction particulary focused on fat reduction. The recipes I have tried have produced some of the most delicious and varied low calorie meals.

The book is presented with colour pictures in a convenient flip format which stands on the kitchen bench for easy reading of recipes.

This book is not listed in Amazon.com but is listed in Amazon.co.uk.

You need reliable kitchen scales for weighing quantities of food. These are important in correctly assessing portion size for calorie calculation and for correct ingredient quantities for recipes.
