Jenny had recently turned 40 and decided she just had to lose weight.
She had been gradually putting on a few pounds each year and now she had realised this could not continue.
She was aware she needed to change her diet and thought the best way to do this would be to reduce the fat content of foods she ate.

She had been on her new diet now for 2 months and had been PUTTING WEIGHT ON- not taking it off!
She couldn't undestand why and felt very frustrated!
Starting on our weight loss program, Jenny kept a log of everything she ate and drank for a week. She also recorded her exercise. This is what a normal day looked like for Jenny:

Jenny's average daily net calorie intake over the week was 3000 calories.
She found out that this calorie intake was at least double what she should be eating to lose weight.
It was also enough to put on weight.
By changing to what she thought was a healthier diet Jenny had actually increased her calorie intake!
She was amazed that those healthy nuts, dried fruit and snack bars were contributing about 1165 calories or 40% of her daily calories.
Her lack of exercise was also not helping.
Jenny could immediately see some simple action she could take to stop putting weight on and start taking it off!
